Services
Counseling:
Research has shown that talk therapy can be as effective as medication for treating anxiety and depression. Addressing prenatal or postpartum depression, traumatic birth, and issues around childbearing loss can often be accomplished with short-term therapy. My goal is to help you to feel better in the shortest time possible.
Postpartum Depression Prevention Planning:
If you have experienced Postpartum Depression (PPD) with a previous pregnancy, exhibit high-risk factors for developing PPD, or are experiencing depression or anxiety symptoms during your pregnancy, I can help you to develop an individualized PPD prevention plan. It is often helpful (but not required) to include your partner in this planning.
Phone counseling:
For women who live in areas of the country with few resources for treating Postpartum Depression, I offer short-term telephone counseling. Call 734-302-0033 for details.
Consultation:
I can consult with your current therapist by telephone about how to best treat Postpartum Depression.
Speaking and Training:
I am available to speak to parent groups or professionals on topics, such as: Postpartum Depression, The Myths of Motherhood, From Partner to Parent, Parenting More than One Child, Raising a Non-Victim Child, Attachment Parenting, Ten Ways to Strengthen Your Family, and more.
